DR. JUDE HANEY • WILLIAM CAREY UNIVERSITY

Dr. Haney is originally from New Orleans, LA with over 15 years of experience in Public Health and Health Informatics.  He is a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) and has worked in a number of roles in the healthcare management field including Clinical Epidemiologist, Louisiana State Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System Coordinator, and Health Information Technology Director. Currently, Dr. Haney is the program director and associate professor of Health Information Management at William Carey University and comes to Mississippi by way of New Iberia where he last served as Director of Health Information at Dauterive Hospital. Dr. Haney has academically prepared and helped place a number of HIM students in healthcare firms across Mississippi. Under his leadership, William Carey’s HIM program has helped produce 13 RHIAs, most of whom are working in Mississippi.  He has close ties with a number of health information directors and specialists throughout the region and continues to push for HIM to be known as a major career path for individuals looking for jobs in the healthcare industry.
MINUTES: February 1, 2022
Lynn Walton presided over the meeting. Mark Killingsworth provided the opening prayer and Ryan Kelly led us in the Pledge of Allegiance. Lynn led the club in the Four Way Test. The meeting was held at the Holiday Inn in Hattiesburg and via Zoom.
 
Lynn reminded members of the February 3, 2022, wine tasting. She reminded members to pick their tickets up today and encouraged members to continue to collect auction items. If you need additional tickets, they can be purchased on the Clubrunner site. Ten more items are needed. The auction is now live. Four volunteers are needed the night of the wine tasting. They will pour the wine. She also encouraged members to share the wine tasting event via their social networks.

Robert Williams has worked in education for over 20 years, with 18 of those years being in the Hattiesburg Public School System. Before he was appointed as Superintendent, he served as principal of N.R. Burger Middle School. Under his leadership and with unwavering commitment from staff, students, and parents, N.R. Burger Middle transformed from a school labeled “At Risk of Failing” in 2008 to “High Performing-High Progress” in 2012. In 2012, N.R. Burger received the “Champion of Change” award from the Mississippi Department of Education.
