MINUTES: July 12, 2022
Mallory Donald presided over the meeting. Ryan Kelly provided the opening prayer. Mark Killingsworth led us in the Pledge of Allegiance. Mallory led the club in the Four Way Test. The meeting was held at the Holiday Inn in Hattiesburg and via Zoom.
 
Annie Jackson brought Courtney Payton a potential guest in today.
 
Mark Killingsworth then introduced today’s guest speaker. Akwete Muhammad is responsible for outreach to the broader community, recruiting volunteers, assists in grant writing, serves as project manager for fundraising events, is responsible for press releases and maintaining a constant social media presence. She also assists Pine Belt Habitat in offering families, sustainable and affordable housing solutions throughout the Pine Belt Area.
 
Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organization dedicated to building homes for those in the community who need it most. Everyone in the Pine Belt having a decent place to live.
 
Habitats mission is to empower families with a life-changing opportunity to own a decent house they can call home.  Every family deserves to own a home that is both clean and affordable, regardless of their race, ethnicity, gender or religion. Pine Belt Habitat's greatest mission is to provide families with sustainable housing, while ensuring they reach homeownership status.
 
Habitat for Humanity today operates around the globe and has helped build, renovate and repair more than 600,000 decent, affordable houses sheltering more than 3 million people worldwide.
Habitat welcomes volunteers and supporters from all backgrounds and also serves people in need of decent housing regardless of race or religion. As a matter of policy, Habitat for Humanity International and its affiliated organizations do not proselytize. This means that Habitat will not offer assistance on the expressed or implied condition that people must either adhere to or convert to a particular faith or listen and respond to messaging designed to induce conversion to a particular faith.

There being no further business to come before the club, Mallory thanked Akwete Muhammad and then adjourned the meeting with our motto: “Service Above Self.”
