OUR GUEST TODAY: SUSAN HOGUE

STAGES MISSISSIPPI

Susan relaunched Stages Mississippi in the summer of 2012 as the owner and editor-in-chief. Having previously co-owned a floor covering store, she knew absolutely nothing about publishing a magazine, but she rapidly learned the business and grew Stages MS from 58 pages per issue at relaunch to 124 pages per issue where it remains consistent today. Stages Mississippi’s mission is to provide readers with a collectable resource library for all matters of homes and gardens specific to Mississippi. As a local business, Stages MS is also passionate about providing a resource guide for other businesses, large and small, across the Southeast region.

Susan is is originally from Yazoo City, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design from Mississippi State University, and is an avid Dawg fan.

She lives in Madison and has two grown sons, a 6 year old grandson, twin 2 year old grandsons, and an Olde English Bulldogge named “Queen Sheba of Hoy.” She enjoys church fellowship, her family and friends, gardening, and anything to do with a coastal environment. She wears her heart on her sleeve, loves people, and can be found on a beach somewhere on her days off.
MINUTES: October 26, 2021
President Lynn Walton presided over today’s meeting. Allen Anderson provided the opening prayer. A.D. Hunt led us in the Pledge of Allegiance and the Four Way Test. The meeting was held at the Holiday Inn in Hattiesburg and via Zoom.

Lynn thanked everyone in attendance and was pleased to see so many Rotarians attending the meeting in person and by Zoom.

She reported that the social committee met and set the date for the wine tasting for February 10th as a Valentine event. We will have an on-line auction beginning soon and a silent auction the evening of the event. Every member is requested to bring an item for the auctions. Matt Rumph gave members a virtual tour of the on-line auction, biddingforgood.com. Stew Deen circulated a sign-up sheet for auction items.

DECEMBER MESSAGE: DG 6840 GOV. BOB VAUGHN
Here we are in late October, a few days of fall weather mixed in, football, most clubs meeting in person or in hybrid formats, two months removed from Hurricane Ida. Many of our training initiatives have had to slide because of Covid or now, Ida. We will recover the training, likely late this year or just after the Mid-Year Checkup. More on that in a future update. World Polio Day has just passed.  If your Club didn't have a Polio Plus fundraiser, consider joining PDG Ace Necaise's effort with details in this newsletter. Individuals or clubs simply pledge an amount for each of the 400 miles they biked and donate that to the Rotary Foundation Polio Plus account and you have participated in a Polio Plus event. It's easy and meaningful to the eradication of polio. How close are we? There was a case in Pakistan on January 1st and a case on Afghanistan on January 27th. One case in each country and nine months without a single additional infection. We are so close! November is Foundation month and PDG Greg Lier is planning training for the Club Foundation Chairs and Territory Resource Network Foundation Team. If your club doesn't have a Foundation Chair listed, he or I or your Assistant Governor will call the Club President to ask for a Chair.
