OUR GUESTS TODAY

WADE AND RAMONA WICHT • ALLEY CATS AXE THROWING CO.

Axe throwing is an exciting and unique social pastime that has been around for over a decade in Canada, but has only recently entered the United States – and now downtown Hattiesburg, MS at Alley Cats Southern Axe Throwing Co!  While the idea of throwing axes may seem daunting at first, we assure you that this is a safe and fun activity. In fact, no previous skill level is required to participate.  Similar to darts, axe throwing is a sport in which the competitor throws an axe at a target, attempting to hit as close as possible to the bullseye, scoring points for each hit within the target.

In recent years, axe throwing has gone from lumberjack pastime to a national phenomenon. Here in the Hub City, Alley Cats Axe Throwing Co. offers axe & hatchet throwing in a fun & controlled environment.  Our Axe-perts will teach you how to hurl a hatchet and help you to sharpen your skills. When you are ready, challenge your friends to a throw-down!  Or join league play in our premier WATL (World Axe Throwing League) affiliated facility.

MINUTES: DECEMBER 14
Lynn Walton presided over the meeting today. Mark Killingsworth provided the opening prayer and Coty Primeaux led us in the Pledge of Allegiance. Lynn led the club in the Four Way Test. The meeting was held at the Holiday Inn in Hattiesburg and via Zoom.
Lynn then installed Mackenzie Parker as our newest Rotarian. Jerome Brown is his sponsor. Mackenzie is a Vice President of Commercial lending at The First Bank. He is a native of Hattiesburg.
Lynn reminded members of the February 3, 2022, wine tasting. It is scheduled for the Canebrake Clubhouse. She also reminded members of the need to secure silent auction items. The money raised from the auction will be donated to our fourth-quarter charity. She also asked Rotarians to look around and notice Rotarians who aren’t present. She asked that members call or email them and tell them we miss them.

NEXT WEEK: KEVIN HARRISON, ABOC

HERITAGE VISION CENTER

You may know Kevin as owner of Heritage Vision Center and the voice behind their TV and radio commercials. You may know him from the many newspaper articles he wrote for years in the Hattiesburg American. You may know his story of grief or his story of recovery. It’s highly unlikely that you know him as an educational speaker and writer in the optical industry for over 25 years. Regardless of how you know him, his favorite titles are husband, dad, step-dad and uncle. A graduate of Hattiesburg High and Southern Miss, Kevin’s passion is to bring a smile to the faces of everyone he meets and to share the wonders of the Pine Belt to the world.
