MARTHA ALLEN • EXTRA TABLE

Born and raised in Clarksdale, Mississippi, Martha Allen accepted the position of Executive Director with Extra Table in March of 2018.
Extra Table is the amazing partnership launched by well-known restaurateur Robert St. John, in 2009, making a difference in the lives of Mississippians by fundraising to stock food pantries and soup kitchens across the state with wholesome nutritious food from Sysco. Extra Table is currently providing food to 45 food pantries across our great state.

KARI LYNN BESING • UNITED WAY OF SOUTHEAST MISSISSIPPI

Kari Lynn is the Director of Community Impact for the United Way of Southeast Mississippi where she manages the grant funding process for partner agencies as well as internal programs in the areas of education, health, and financial stability.

Kari Lynn moved to Hattiesburg in 2018 to join her fiancé who is a Ph.D. student at USM. She previously lived in Indianapolis, Indiana to earn her Masters in Higher Education Administration from Indiana University. She is a 2016 graduate of the University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. She has published and presented on her work in civic engagement motivation and the ethics of global service. Her free time is filled with video chatting her 4-year-old nephew, running on the Trace with her dog, and doing the Sunday crossword puzzle.

 

MINUTES: July 14, 2020
President Mark Killingsworth presided over today’s meeting. Jerome Brown provided the invocation and Wes Brooks led us in the Pledge of Allegiance. Joe Bost thanked A.D. for acting as today’s greeter and thanked Jerome and A.D. for the pledge and prayer.  Joe joined us today through Zoom. Lucy Sanguinetti introduced today’s guest speaker via Zoom, Dr. Michael Pinto from Festival South
FestivalSouth costs hundreds of thousands of dollars each year. Sponsorships, donations, and grants help pay some of those expenses making it possible to have inexpensive ticketed events and often free events. The Festival’s economic impact is $1.5 million annually on our local economy.
