On Tuesday, June 21, our program will be provided by Jennifer Payne and Summer Eades of Hattiesburg Junior Auxiliary. Mrs. Payne currently serves as that organization's President and Mrs. Eades is their Finance Chair.

Junior Auxiliary of Hattiesburg, Inc. was built on the foundation of improving the community, especially where children are concerned.  In 1941, the Junior Auxiliary of Hattiesburg was born with 23 ladies ready to volunteer their time for the betterment of the community and its children. In 1943, the Hattiesburg chapter of 37 members was granted a charter by the National Association of Junior Auxiliaries, the twelfth volunteer group to be given such a charter in the nation.

Celebrating their 75th anniversary this year,  the Junior Auxiliary of Hattiesburg continues the tradition of volunteer community service in meeting the needs of the underprivileged. With a volunteer base of 100 women, JA plans, funds and staffs 21 service projects each year. From ensuring that children have backpacks and uniforms to educating teenagers about the dangers of driving while distracted, JA of Hattiesburg works with nearly 4,000 children each year in a variety of ways.

JA of Hattiesburg President, Jennifer Payne and Finance Chair, Summer Eades are joining us today to talk about many needs of the children and families of the Pine Belt, how JA of Hattiesburg is working to meet them and what we can do to becoming involved.
