Hi, District 6840!  I have just completed training to become your 2021-2022 District Governor. Next up I train the Leadership Team on February 27. Then all incoming Club Presidents must attend the Presidents-Elect Training Seminar (PETS) on March 12 and 13. This is one of the very few requirements shared by every Rotarian who is elected to serve as Club President. For several years, D6840 has collaborated with the other four Rotary Districts in Mississippi and Louisiana to provide this training. For the first time, PETS will be entirely virtual.

Friday sessions will be from 9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. and will be purely our district training. From 6:00-7:30 PM, District Grants Seminar will be offered. This training will be required to participate in a District or Global grant.

On Saturday, training starts at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 4:00 p.m. Speakers include RI President-Elect Shekhar Mehta and RI Director Elect Elizabeth Usovicz. Both take office on July 1 with our Presidents-Elect.

As virtual goes, this has been the virtual year.  Most of us have experienced virtual meetings and, hopefully, are now in some form of hybrid meetings. The Rotary International Convention in Hawaii ended up being a virtual event and I just attended Rotary’s first-ever (and hopefully last) virtual International Assembly (IA). This event is held each year for the incoming District Governors from all over the world to meet each other and the incoming Rotary International President, to share ideas, learn from each other, set goals, and hear the theme from the President-Elect. The Rotary International President for 2021-22 is Shekhar Mehta from India.
His Theme is Serve to Change Lives
President Shekhar has been changing lives during his entire Rotary journey and asks us each to do the same. In the coming months, I will share some of the other information from IA and the goals we can accomplish together. It will be an amazing year for us to Renew Rotary in our clubs and district and I look forward to sharing it with you. It begins with PETS, so incoming club presidents, please register here now.
