The Honorable Lynn Fitch
Treasurer of the State of Mississippi 


 
Lynn Fitch was sworn in as Mississippi’s 54th Treasurer on January 5, 2012, as the first Republican Woman to hold that office and as only the second female in Mississippi history.
A native of Marshall County, Lynn was raised in Holly Springs and attended the University of Mississippi in Oxford, where she earned both a Bachelors of Business Administration and a Juris Doctorate in five short years. After graduation, at the age of 23, Lynn was practicing law as a Special Assistant Attorney General with the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office representing financial and economic development state agencies.
In 2009, Lynn was selected by Governor Haley Barbour to serve as Executive Director of the Mississippi State Personnel Board. Prior to her time at MSPB, Lynn served as Deputy Executive Director of External Affairs at the Mississippi Department of Employment Security. She has also been a bond lawyer, in private practice, with a focus on general and municipal bonds. Lynn served as Counsel for the Mississippi House of Representatives, Ways and Means Committee and Local and Private Legislation Committee.
Lynn has also been recognized for her professionalism and leadership abilities by several organizations. She was named one of the 50 Leading Businesswomen in Mississippi and was selected for the inaugural class of Leadership in Law by the Mississippi Business Journal. Lynn was recently selected as the Outstanding Woman Lawyer of 2012 and recognized by the Mississippi Bar as a Woman Trailblazer. She attended Harvard’s Business School of Management and Leadership Development Program. She has been active in several professional associations including: National Association of State Treasurers and the Mississippi Bar Association. She currently serves on the Board of Goodwill Industries, the American Red Cross and is immediate Past-President of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in Jackson.
She lives in Madison and has three children Mackenzie Burns (husband Drew Burns), Marye Will, and John Tucker. Lynn was recently blessed with her first grandchild, James Burns!
