RANDY SWAN, FOX 23 NEWS DIRECTOR

Randy Swan has been part of the media world for more than 40  years.  Most know him as someone who came into their home each evening at 6:00 p.m. on the WDAM-TV newscast until he retired in February 2015.  Mr. Swan had been a part of the WDAM, NBC affiliate since the mid 1970’s.  Total retirement did not suit him well so he returned to broadcasting last  year at FOX 23 as their regional news director.  His Swan Song editorials are fast becoming a new favorite for FOX.  He was born and raised in South Mississippi and has spent his entire life here with the exception of five years as News Director, Anchor, and Station Manager for W.A.B.G. TV in Greenville, Mississippi.  Mr. Swan was born into broadcasting as his father even held a radio contest to name him.

Mr. Swan is a graduate of Hattiesburg High School and the University of Southern Mississippi. He has received numerous honors including being inducted into the University of Southern Mississippi’s Journalism Hall of Fame in 2010 and the Mississippi Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 2007.  He is a board member of The Extra Table, Forrest General Healthcare Foundation, the Hattiesburg Concert Association, and is called on as a favorite voice to host major events for South Mississippi.  He continues to be involved in numerous community organizations and events including the fight against heart disease and cancer as a heart survivor himself and now as a cancer survivor.  Mr. Swan enjoys golf, bowling and traveling.

He has been married to Millie Swan for 28 years.  They have two children Ivey age 24, and Zoey age 13.
