MILLIE SWAN • FORREST HEATH

Millie currently serves as a vice president for Forrest Health. She oversees the medical staff services, and marketing and communication areas for the hospital along with service line administration and oversight of the Heart and Vascular Service line, Oncology Service line, Imaging Services, Lab Services, Food and Nutrition, Guest and Pastoral Services and Spirit of Women Program. Forrest General became a Spirit of Women member in 2004 under Millie’s leadership and has continued to grow with over 8,000 local Spirit of Women members.
Millie has been instrumental in adding new programs under the Spirit of Women umbrella including Spirit Girls for girls in grades 7-12 and five years ago The Sweeteas program for girls pre-school through grade 6. She has over 25 years of healthcare experience and prior to her healthcare career she was a TV anchor and news reporter.
In 2011, Millie received the Dr. Phillip Roger’s leadership award and in 2010 was chosen as the Senior Professional of the Year by the Mississippi Hospital Association Public Relations and Marketing Society. She is also a past recipient of the Top 40 under 40 award presented by the MS Business Journal, the Amethyst Award presented by the National Spirit of Women Organization as well as a two time Distinguished Sales and Marketing award recipient presented by SMEI of Hattiesburg.
 
In 2007, Millie served as President of the MS Hospital Association’s PR and Marketing Society. She is an advisory board member for the National Spirit of Women organization, board member for the Mississippi Arts and Entertainment Center and USM Partners for the Arts. Swan is also a member of the Society of Health Care Strategy and Market Development and a life member of Junior Auxiliary. She served on the board of the National Association of Junior Auxiliary as both 2nd Vice- President and Public Relations Chairman. Millie has served on numerous boards in the past including the Mississippi Distinguished Young Woman Program, Aids Coalition Services, Salvation Army, USM Symphony Orchestra and the Hattiesburg Arts Council.
 
She is a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi and has been married to Randy Swan for 30 years. They are both active community volunteers and have two daughters—Ivey and Zoey, and she added a son-in-law, Garner Bell in 2017.
