Mallory Donald presided over the meeting. Ryan Kelly provided the opening prayer. Joe Bost led us in the Pledge of Allegiance. Mallory led the club in the Four Way Test. The meeting was held at the Mugshots Bar and Grill in Hattiesburg.

Mallory read a thank you note from the University Baptist Church for the memorial gift our club gave in memory of Bill Hughes.

Stew Deen then conducted the 50/50 raffle. Lachel Story was the winner. She walked away with $105.00. Before ticket sales next week, the pot stands at $65.00.

Stew introduced visitors. Katie Martin is a guest of Lucy Sanguinetti.

Ryan Kelly then introduced today’s guest speaker, Kristy Gould. Kristy serves as the corporate planning and development officers at Hattiesburg Clinic. She oversees the marketing, public relations, communication, provider relations and patient satisfaction for the Clinic.

According to Kristy, Hattiesburg Clinic now has 450 doctors and providers working in 17 counties throughout the state. Of those, 50 are specialists. She encourages everyone to have a primary care physician. That doctor is the first point of contact for a patient. Individuals with a primary care physician are healthier with lower health care costs.

She reports that 1,000 lives are lost daily due to high blood pressure. One in eight women are diagnosed with breast cancer each year and one in five individuals are affected by depression. Primary care physicians can detect these conditions early and prescribe proper treatments, improving the patient’s health.

There being no further business to come before the club, Mallory thanked Kristy for her remarks and then adjourned the meeting with our motto: “Service Above Self.”
