Ryan Kelly presided over the meeting. Joe Bost provided the opening prayer. Anthony Harris led us in the Pledge of Allegiance. Ryan led the club in the Four Way Test. The meeting was held at the Mugshots Bar and Grill in Hattiesburg.

Ryan reminded members that the wine tasting committee will meet in the near future to plan the 2023 event. Stew conducted the 50/50 raffle. There was no winner for the $210.00 pot.

Ryan then introduced today’s speakers. Jim Wild and Olha Zutsepilo. Jim retired in 2021. He is a long-term resident of Hattiesburg and set four goals to accomplish in his retirement. He wants to become more involved in Heritage Church, spend more time traveling with his family, make investments in his personal health and find something purposeful to become involved in. He and his wife helped relocate a Ukrainian family from Odesa to Hattiesburg.

Olha Zutsepilo was born in Ukraine. She met and married Alex Fokin, a Russian national. They were married in December 2016. Alex was in the United States when Russia invaded Ukraine. He began efforts to get his family out of that country after the invasion. Alex connected with Jim, who asked Heritage Church for help. The church had a home, and 40 members showed up to get the house ready for the immigrants. When they left, the home was fully furnished and there was food in the refrigerator. The Rotary Club in McComb raised money to help with the project and provided sponsors for Olha and her family.

The entire family eventually relocated to Hattiesburg, after spending 20 days in Ireland. Olha says she has met two other Ukraine families in the Hattiesburg area since she has been here.

There being no further business to come before the club, Ryan thanked our speakers. He then adjourned the meeting with our motto: “Service Above Self.”
