Elizabeth Van Sant & Joara Cerqueira de Resende

Elizabeth Van Sant is currently serving a second term as President of the Covington Rotary Club, home club of DG Brian Hall. Assistant Governor for the Lake Territory, District Rotarian of the Year 2013-2014 for my work with returning Rotary Youth Exchange to District 6840. Winner of the Spark Plug award from the South Central Rotary Youth Exchange Multi-District, and, in February, was awarded the Silver Achievement Recognition from the North American Youth Exchange Network among all of the Rotary Youth Exchange Programs in Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
Elizabeth is host mom to Joara starting this month, and actual mother of Ethan, representing D6840 as our first Rotary Youth Exchange Student to Taiwan. Elizabeth is a coffee roaster and owner of Campbell's Coffee & Tea, micro roaster of specialty coffees in Covington. Joara arrived at the beginning of August and is a senior at Covington High School. She will represent Covington High in the State Physics competition later this month. She participated on the Swim team and the Soccer team and actually earned a letter in each of those sports! She will share the speaking responsibilities with me so you will hear directly from her as well.
Today, Joara is accompanied by her parents Mario Dutra de Resende and Lilian Pacheco de Cerqueira.
