Vic Purvis
Southern Miss QB & Broadcaster

Vic Purvis began his broadcasting career as a part of what was then the Golden Eagle Radio Network during the 1974 season when the school used former players as guest commentators on each broadcast. Purvis did such an outstanding job on his first broadcast that he was invited back to serve as a commentator again later that year. At the end of the 1974 season, Purvis was asked to take the job full time beginning the next year. Purvis brought his expert analysis to the Golden Eagle network on a full-time basis in 1975 and and retired from that position after the 2015 season for a total of 41 years in the Golden Eagle radio broadcast booth as an analyst.

With a total of 475 games broadcast and 27 games in which he appeared as a player, Purvis has been involved in 502 Southern Miss football games which, at the time of his retirement, was well over 50% of all the football games played in the Southern Miss football history.
