Chad Newell 
President, Hattiesburg Chamber ADP

Our guest has been actively involved in Economic Development circles for nearly two decades and currently serves as president of the Area Development Partnership (ADP), the regional Chamber of Commerce, Community Development, and Economic Development organization for Greater Hattiesburg. Chad joined the ADP in December 2009. 
Newell spent three years as a developer with Newton Oldacre McDonald, a full service retail development firm based in Nashville from 2007-2009. Chad spent the previous ten years (1996-2006) in Alabama assisting existing businesses with expansion plans and recruiting new companies to the state. Chad was an integral part of teams that led to billions of dollars in capital investments and thousands of new jobs created across the state of Alabama. 
 
Chad previously served as Executive Vice President with the Metropolitan Development Board (MDB) in Birmingham from 2003-2006. In this capacity he led the marketing and business recruitment efforts within the region. Prior to arriving in Birmingham in January 2003, he served as the Economic Development Director for the City of Opelika in Mayor Barbara Patton’s administration from October 1998-2002. Before Opelika, he was the Business Development Director with the Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce. Chad has also worked for the Center for Policy Research and Planning in Jackson, Mississippi and with other Economic Development agencies in Southeast Mississippi during graduate school.
 
A native of Meridian, Mississippi, Chad graduated from Mississippi State University in 1993 with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and earned a Master’s degree in Economic Development in 1996 from the University of Southern Mississippi. He and his wife Jennifer have been married for 20 years and have two sons, Garrett (16) and Brooks (9), and one daughter, Jordan (13). 
 
During his spare time, Chad enjoys spending time with family and friends. He enjoys going to the beach, playing tennis, short jogs, college sports, cooking on the grill, dining out, watching sitcoms and movies, going to church and reading leadership oriented books.
 
Chad was accompanied today by the ADP's Membership Director, Haley Bolivar White.
