Danny was born and raised in Biloxi, Mississippi. Upon graduation from Biloxi High School, Danny graduated from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and finished studies at USM in Hattiesburg in 1982.  Danny got his professional certificate from the Hattiesburg Police Academy and worked in the Patrol Division for 3 years before being promoted to the Detective Division in 1985. 
 
Danny served as the department’s juvenile officer and PIO (public information officer).  Danny was promoted to Sergeant, Lieutenant, and Captain and served as Chief of Detectives for 3 years.  This unit worked all major crime scenes in Forrest, Lamar, and Perry Counties and is still in existence today.  Danny was promoted to Major of Operations and served there until his retirement in 2002, and was the first composite artist from the State of Mississippi to be trained by the FBI in QuanticoVa.  
Danny was elected Sheriff of Lamar County in 2003 and took office in 2004.  He is in his 3rd term as sheriff and, besides belonging to several state and national law enforcement organizations, is the Past President of the Mississippi Sheriff’s Association.  Danny is married to the former Donna Hughes of Seminary, Ms. and they are the proud parents of three sons: Matthew, Daniel, and Andrew.  Danny and his family are active members of Temple Baptist Church where he serves as a deacon.
