REACH Program, PIne Grove Behavioral Health & Addiction Services
Roland M. Johnson has worked for Pine Grove Behavioral Health and Addiction Services since 1993 and currently serves as Outreach Coordinator of the REACH program.  REACH is an experiential therapy ropes course for residential patients where each participant accomplishes goals by pushing themselves past their personal comfort levels.  The experience enhances the patients’ self-confidence, communication skills, and self-esteem and increases their teamwork and trust building skills.  After graduating from the University of Southern Mississippi (USM) with a B.S. in Coaching and Sports Administration, Johnson completed certification from both Adventures in Reality, (Lafayette, LA) and Project Adventure, (Covington, GA) qualifying him as a ropes course facilitator and trainer.

Johnson was running back and full back for USM, blocking for Brett Favre and scored the winning touchdown against Auburn in 1990.  Johnson’s success against Auburn continued the following year when he and his team beat them in 1991, as well.

Johnson has been married for 12 years to Michelle Johnson, (Rowan Elementary Principal) and they have three children, Gregory, 19, Rhianna, 11, and Raniah, 5 years old.
Pine Grove’s REACH course is also offered to the community including Hattiesburg’s Area Development Partnership’s (ADP) Leadership Program.
