PATRICIA W. BURCHELL

Forrest and Perry County District Attorney
 
Patricia Burchell, a native of Clarksdale, MS, earned a Bachelor's of Science Degree in elementary Education and a Master's Degree in Education from the University of Southern Mississippi. She obtained her Juris Doctorate from the University of Mississippi School of Law in 1990. After 12 years of civil practice, Mrs. Burchell became an Assistant District Attorney for the 12th Circuit Court District in July 2003. On October 1, 2010, Governor Haley Barbour appointed Mrs. Burchell as the District Attorney for the 12th Circuit Court District. The following year she was elected District Attorney for the 12th Circuit Court District, and she continues to serve the citizens of the Forrest and Perry Counties as their District Attorney.  
Mrs. Burchell is a member of the Mississippi Bar Association, Southern Central Mississippi Bar Association, Mississippi Prosecutors Association, Mississippi Assocation for Drug Court Professionals, National District Attorneys Association, and National Association of Drug Court Professionals. She has served as a member of the Mississippi Drug Court Advisory Committee and as a judge for the Mississippi Bar Young Lawyers Division Mock Trial Competition. Mrs Burchell serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the United Way of Southeast Mississippi. She is an active member of  St. Thomas Catholic Church in Hattiesburg, where she serves on the Parish Council.
