Club President, Sean Priebe, and our guest last Tuesday, (c)3 Wines Co-Founder, Brady Raanes.

President Sean Priebe presided over the meeting. Thanks to Lynn Walton who gave the invocation and to Aaron Ladner who led us in the Pledge of Allegiance. Thanks to Todd Watson and Curtis Bishop who served as our greeters today.
Jaclyn Adams then introduced today’s guests. Michelle Wilson is a visiting Rotarian from Ocean Springs and Brandon Hodges the President of the Petal Rotary Club is a guest of Aaron Ladner.  Caroline Nurkin is a guest of Lucy Parkman. Ben Donald is a guest of Sean Priebe and Will Russell is a guest of Bill McLeod.  Prospective member Jim Prout is also visiting today.
Today’s Mystery Rotarian was born in Kansas City, MO.  His roots in Mississippi began at the age of 5 when his father accepted a trucking job in Jackson and his mother began working the line in the Clorox factory.  This Rotarian spent his summers in high school earning money scaling roof tops as a framing carpenter.  As an avid outdoorsman, he once shot a ram in the head with a bow and arrow at 75 yards.
At 12 years old he and is best friend were joy riding through the woods in the truck of a nice gentleman and rolled it.  Fortunately, no one was hurt and this Rotarian guesses that the gentleman forgave him since he allowed him to marry his daughter 12 years later.
He joined the army at the age of 17 and when he returned and attended a local football game and ran into a cheerleader that he had a crush on 10 years earlier.  They began dating.  He graduated Cum Laude with a bachelors in Biology from Mississippi College, a Dental degree from University of Mississippi, a Medical Degree from LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans and Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Certification from LSU New Orleans.  He has 2 children and just returned from Walt Disney. Our Mystery Rotarian is Curtis Bishop.
Sean inducted Jim Prout and Ben Donald. Unfortunately, Richard Topp, is Jim’s sponsor but is unable to attend his induction. Sean is Ben’s sponsor. He encouraged every Rotarian to find out who should be in the club and is not and work toward bringing them in.
Jim Prout thanked everyone for the opportunity to be a Rotation.  Ben Donald then thanked everyone for the chance to help make our community a better place.
Sean then introduced introduced today’s guest speaker. Brady Raanes is a financial Advisor and has a BA in Finance from the University of Mississippi.  He and his wife started (c) 3 wine Company in 2010.  It’s a nonprofit Napa Valley wine company that donates 100% of its profits to some of the best charities working to make a difference.
It all started when he and his wife and two other couples met every Thursday for weeks and read the book “Systematic Theology.” After reading that book, they decided they wanted to adopt a child.
They spent the summer in Ghana, Africa and finalized the adoption of their son.  While spending that time in Africa, they decided they wanted to create a socially conscious business that would help create opportunity for those in need.
Brady and Christen decided to start a wine company.  They did a ton of research including traveling to Napa Valley and trying the different grapes from all the different regions and ended up purchasing 3 barrels of wine.   They chose barrels from Oakville and Atlas Peake.
The wine has to age for 2 years in the barrels.  Once the barrels were ready, they had to go to the Wine Foundry and taste test their wine.  In creating their wine, they had to taste the first batch, then had to add a little of this one and add a little of that one and finally created their wine.
The barrels made 1800 bottles.  Each bottle sells for $85.00 and can be shipped to various states in the US.  Mississippi and Georgia are not available for shipping; Brady has to go to Slidell to pick up his wine.
