This Wednesday, January 25, the Rotary Club of Hattiesburg announced its plans, in addition to other other humanitarian efforts, to assist Hattiesburg Public Schools by donating 120 backpacks and other school supplies.  These items will go to those students who have been identified by school district counselors as having "lost everything."
Hattiesburg Rotary Club President, Jaclyn Adams, stated, "When our Rotary Club of Hattiesburg heard of the widespread devastation from the tornado that impacted Petal and Hattiesburg, we knew that we wanted to take an active role in helping to heal the wounds left in its aftermath. Adams went on to explain that she was alerted to the need these 120 students by Joy Snowden of Adcock Properties.
Adams added, "Our club was honored to provide the funds to help these students recover from their loss and get back to normal. We have received numerous offers of volunteers, monetary donations, and cleaning supplies from Rotary Clubs across the United States."
The Rotary Club of Hattiesburg is asking all Rotarians to support us in assembling a volunteer group that will organize on Saturday, Feb. 4th to help affected areas.
